August 2011 NaBloPoMo: Imaginary World Vs. Different Time Period

“Would you rather be transported magically into an imaginary world or a different time period in this world?”

There are several imaginary worlds I would like to be transported to. Here are the books they are from:

  • Gregor the Overlander series
  • Kiki Strike series
  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians series
  • Chronicles of Narnia
  • Harry Potter series
Narnia, c. Voyage of the Dawn Treader

    Hogwarts, c. 1998

And there some time periods I would like to visit.

Ancient Rome/Greece/Egypt would be cool. I think ancient history is interesting, and I would love to see what buildings like the Acropolis, the Colosseum, and the Pyramids of Giza looked like when they were new. Actually, I would like to see what the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World looked like when they were first built. I would want to see what life was like back then too.

I’d like to see what North America (minus the 13 colonies) like prior to, I don’t know, 1770? Before people started to settle the West. It would be neat to see absolutely no houses in sight. It would also be cool to see all the animals like buffalo.

I would also like to visit the Revolutionary War time period. It would be fun to talk to Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. But not Thomas Jefferson. (Just kidding, Dad!)

So I need to get to work on my time machine…
