Today, if I stay on track, I will reach 40,008 on my novel for Camp, putting me in the final fifth of my wordcount.
Just ten thousand more words to write after that.
I’ve really enjoyed doing Camp. I was so surprised when I realized that my entire novel from last November is only half of this June’s novel. Well, duh! you’re thinking. But I wasn’t sure if I could handle writing a novel that was twice as long. I went ahead and signed up for Camp anyway, because I’m weird like that.
So by now, I’m pretty sure I can finish. My wordcount goal, that is. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish my novel in time, though. So I’ve decided to scrap my plan to write Terrible Lizard in August. I’ll write the second half of The Time Machine that month instead. I might even be working on it for November’s novel, although I highly doubt that.
I just wrote the scene where Connor and Kacy ride on the back of Bernice (Kacy named the Indricothere.) because they’ve gotten tired of walking. Bernice also has a baby named… Bertie. Yes, I’m naming almost every creature in my book, or rather, Kacy is. (See, I’m trying to pass my weirdness off on a fictional character…)
I want Bernice as a pet! Although I’d make my brother change her litter box.
Anyway, I love Camp and I’ll be sad, yet relieved, when it’s over. July will be a great break. Oops, wait. I have more 4-H projects to work on once Camp ends.
Congratulations on 40k, whenever you reach it, and I’ll be with you for August, I promise.
Thanks! Ooh, cool!
