The Impossible Bucket List

IMG_0052_zpsc86d3992“It’s been said that a reader lives a thousand lives, and it’s true. We have an advantage over the rest of the population. We sit on our beds, crack open a book, and we’re whisked away to far-off lands where we meet fascinating characters and go on the finest adventures words can write. But this comes with disadvantages. Real life disappoints us. Other people just want to go on a cruise or ride in a hot-air-balloon. We’ll always be looking for something slightly more … magical. A reader’s bucket list is an impossible bucket list. What’s on your impossible list?”

The Book Chewers blog has begun doing a weekly link-up (book-related, of course!) and I loved their first prompt, so here’s my response! I doubt that this will become a regular thing here, not because there’s something wrong with their blog but simply because I get so many post ideas on my own. But I couldn’t pass up this one.

1. Fall into the Pensieve with Harry and watch Snape’s memories.

33. Borrow Luna’s odd dress robes and attend one of Slughorn’s many parties.

34. Spend an afternoon playing board games with Luke and Jen.

35. Read the captions on the BFG’s jars of dreams.

If anyone gets all the references I shall reward them with Bruce Bogtrotter’s chocolate cake, delivered directly to their door by none other than my blog mascot, Sir Neville Martin Purplebottom, Esq., himself! What are your truly impossible dreams?

Heehee, particularly like 2, 27, and 35. Wow it’s been so long since I’ve thought about Ella Enchanted. I read it about a dozen times when I was eleven or twelve. Thanks for linking up!

  2. orphu44 says:

Argh. This post. I literally just flailed about this post because of all the new life goals. Aaaah … it’s all amazing.

    • nevillegirl says:

*coughs* Did you note the AMoG references? πŸ˜€

      Which one is your favorite?

      • orphu44 says:

        Of course I did!
Oh dear, I have to choose? Well, I like hunting the stag, riding the train, spending Christmas with the Adams, hoodwinking ogres, picnicking with Gregor and Luxa (only I’d include some of that shrimp stuff to coax Ripred to the party), keeping Deryn Sharp’s secret, breakfasting with Calvin and Hobbes (and then spend the rest of the day with them), jousting with Loras, and going to Slughorn’s party.
…that was a bit long, but ahh, it was by necessity…

  3. MOHE says:

*coughs* Ella hoodwinks /ogres/, not trolls.

    I like #3, #6, #11, and #15.

    • nevillegirl says:

Gah, I knew that trolls didn’t sound quite right…

I’m glad, because I don’t think most people would get some of them. πŸ™‚

      • MOHE says:

Especially #6. Not that I’d want to be at God’s Promise in the first place…

And #3, well, if I were to meet a duke, I don’t know what I’d say.

    • nevillegirl says:

Agreed. No kidding, that book has given me more nightmares than what I’ve read so far of Stephen King’s books. xD

Me too. Goodness me, if I met a duke, I’d be so flustered, I just might say I was the Queen!

      • MOHE says:

Yeah, it’s given me more frightening thoughts and daymares than a book I thought was really really creepy when I was 9 (Seer of Shadows, by Avi, if you’re wondering.)

But he said Ashton was your cousin!

    • nevillegirl says:

No, he said Ashton was quite charming, and Jack was our cousin!

      (Or something… I forget that quote…)

  4. Ashley G. says:

I love #18! I may tweak it a little. And Calvin and Hobbes is the best. πŸ™‚ No childhood is complete with out them.

  5. cait says:

I’m loving that last one, with the BFG. Brilliance. I’d love to hear Mockingjays, but no way would I like to be in Panem. At all. Nope. πŸ˜‰ Still…fabulous list! Thanks for joining in our link up!
