Happy Valentine’s Day! I got this tag from Bianca @ The Ultimate Fangirl. She didn’t specifically tag me in it, but she DID say that anyone who wanted to do this tag should go for it.
So… yeah. That’s what I’ll be doing today. I love that it isn’t necessarily Valentine-themed – it’s a great tag to post today, but you could answer it any day of the year, really.
(So feel free to grab this tag for your own blog, even after Valentine’s Day!)
Enjoy!
the paranormal crush.
The Skulduggery Pleasant books count as paranormal, don’t they? So Tanith Low is my answer here. She rides a motorcycle and HAS SWORDFIGHTS WITH PEOPLE and is basically a huge dork. I mean, she fangirls over books! And distracts Skulduggery & Valkyrie from their Serious Missions by laughing at her own jokes! I love her so much. I need more stories about her ASAP.
the dark and moody crush who has a good side.
Ooh, definitely Carmilla Karnstein from the webseries Carmilla! She pretends to be aloof, to have no attachments to anyone, but she actually cares about her friends a lot. She’s always there to save the day – even when she’s upset with her friends, she still helps them when they need it. I love her combination of sarcasm and sweetness…and that little smirk she does, oh my god.
the most badass crush.
I’ve had a crush on Furiosa ever since I saw Mad Max: Fury Road in September, and my crush seems to grow a little more each day. If I have a “type” at all, it would definitely be “women who intimidate me and who I would never actually talk to IRL because I’d be too shy,” and Furiosa… well, I think she intimidates everyone, honestly, and that makes her even better. She’s very badass and you should definitely be terrified of her, unless you’re one of the few people she loves, and then she’s very kind.
the crush i’d venture anywhere with.
Well, Carol Aird (from Carol and The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith) went on a Really Gay Road Trip with Therese, so she seems like a good choice. Really Gay Road Trips are my aesthetic and between the two of us, I think Carol and I have the “Really Gay” part covered.
the crush i’d want to be stranded on a desert island with.
Continuing with the theme of “picking the most practical crushes for each situation,” I’d choose Johanna Mason from the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The Quarter Quell was held in an island arena, so she could definitely handle being stranded on a desert island.
(I almost chose Johanna for “the dark and moody crush who has a good side”! But I think she fits here better.)
the crush i want to tame.
Uh, Luxa, I guess? From the Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins. I don’t really want to tame anyone, though, because I think it’s weird to want to date someone just so you can change them. Either love your crush for who they are, or find someone who already has all the qualities you look for in a partner so that you don’t end up trying to force someone to change.
But I digress. I picked Luxa because she’s rebellious, I guess, although the more I look at the rest of this list, the more I realize that that is a trait shared by nearly everyone else on it. Oops. I definitely have a type.
the crush i friendzoned.
I’m choosing to reinterpret this as “a crush I just want to be friends with,” because A) there is no such thing as the friendzone and B) I’ve literally never heard anyone except straight guys use that term. It seems very specific to that gender and sexual orientation…
Anyway, I would be perfectly happy to be just friends with Tonks from Harry Potter. She reminds me a lot of Tanith, actually. OH MY GOD WHAT IF I DATED TANITH AND WAS BEST FRIENDS WITH TONKS?! #goals
the most romantic crush.
Margaery Tyrell, probably, from A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones? She’s very flirty and sweet and would probably bring me flowers – the Tyrell sigil is a rose, after all. She’d probably adore Valentine’s Day and make lots of plans for it and everything.
And now that I think about it, I could get her flowers and she’d probably love them.
the crush i want to elope with.
Peggy Carter, OBVIOUSLY. She’s been my #1 crush for exactly a year, actually, since I didn’t start watching Agent Carter until last February, about a month after season one began. AHHHH I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HER. That is all.
my soulmate.
You all thought I would say Peggy, right? Well, no… it’s Blue Sargent, from the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I LOVE BLUE. She’s smart and sensible and eccentric – what’s not to love? Also, we could go on adventures with the Raven Boys!

How was your Valentine’s Day? OH OH OH AND WHAT IS THE LATEST BOOK YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH?!
YES I LOVE all your choices!
Thanks! 😀
Tanith Low! I just met her a few minutes ago. She killed a troll, and then had an ominous conversation with a dude named Mr. Bliss.
She seems nice so far.
I love Tanith with all my heart. 😀 I’m so happy you started reading that series!
Tonks is the best. 😀
Isn’t she?! 😀
YES TO ALL OF THESE. I love Blue, oh my goodness. I love Blue. (I have no idea how I’m going to deal with The Raven King.) I would also TOTALLY want to be friends with Tonks, because Tonks is fabulous. Too many fabulous people. *sighs* Thanks for tagging me — this looks like a lot of fun! 🙂
BLUE IS THE BEST. ❤
I'm going to deal with The Raven King by bursting into tears after I finish it, probably. *nods* Because A) I'm sure something tragic will happen and B) I'm not ready for this series to be over.
Tonks is ALSO the best. They're ALL the best. EVERYBODY IS THE BEST YAYYY.
You're welcome! 🙂 I can't wait to see your post.
