I’m going to try to do the August NaBloPoMo (it’s like NaNoWriMo, which I will be doing this November). I have to post at least once a day and then I get this little badge to add to this blog. August’s theme is “Fiction” and I have no idea whether or not I’ll stick to that theme! Probably not.
Today’s writing prompt was, “What is your favorite book?” I might write about that another day, but today I decided to change the prompt to, “What is your favorite picture book?”
Actually, I have several favorite picture books!
First is Little Pea by Amy Krause Rosenthal.
This is a really cute book about a little pea. He’s a very happy pea…except for when he has to eat his dinner: candy. Because everyone knows that vegetables don’t like to eat sweets!
Another is The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith.
Some of the stories include: “The Tortoise and the Hair” about a rabbit growing his hair faster than a turtle can walk, “The Princess and The Bowling Ball”, and “Cinderumplestiltskin”.
It has some very twisted fairy tales. It was also one of my mom’s favorite books to read to me. Go figure!
And the last is Starry Messenger by Peter Sis.
This is a book about Galileo. I like it because the illustrations are so pretty. This guy draws much better than I can! Also, it still feels picture book-y even though it’s a biography.
So, I recommend heading to the picture book shelves of the library!
