Blogging Plans For Winter/Spring 2015

Hello, minions.

Today I thought I’d talk about blogging – specifically, some changes I’d like to make during these next few months. I wrote a similar post at about the same time last year, but it discussed goals for the whole year.

This time, I’m concentrating on just a few months at a time, and I’ll figure out things as I go. (Because I like to occasionally change how I do things, and because I’ve noticed that I follow through with short-term goals much more often than I ever do with long-term goals.)

Basically, I’m mostly happy with this blog’s current mishmash of topics. I’ve written a lot of fangirlish stuff lately, and I’ve participated in a bunch of link-ups. I’ve posted a TON of lists. I’ve written so, so much about photography and LGBTQ+ stuff and Doctor Who.

But there are some areas I’ve been neglecting, and there’s some uncharted waters that I’d like to start exploring as well. With that in mind, here are the things you can expect to see me blogging about during this winter and spring:

I’d like to write more about feminism. Currently, this is something I do only for My Hero Monday, but I’d like to mention it more often. I should start posting about feminism + current events!

I’d like to post more stuff about music – last night’s post was an attempt at that, FYI. I need to fangirl about the scores of Unbroken, V for Vendetta, Interstellar, The Imitation Game. Pffft, I should probably do a post about how these last two scores were nominated for an Oscar and how I am conflicted about which one should win because THEY BOTH GIVE ME SO MANY FEELINGS OMG OMG.

I need to catch up on my book reviews. I am perpetually behind in this area; there are books I read way back in JULY that still haven’t yet been reviewed. I know I’ve posted a lot of fangirlish lists lately, but I rarely remember to write actual reviews.

So you can expect to see reviews of some of Kirsten Miller’s books, Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts, et cetera. I need to keep making progress with Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars series so that I can tell you all about it. And you can expect a huge, chock-full-of-quotes post about the Skulduggery Pleasant books as soon as I’ve finished the series. (Or as soon as I’ve stopped wailing and crying because tragicness.)

Oh, and I need to catch up on my post about movies and television shows. These may or may not end up being formal reviews; it doesn’t really matter to me. What does matter is that I remember to talk about them, because I usually talk about books instead. Movies and TV shows are cool too…

I want to talk more about homeschooling, because this is the second semester of my senior year and I’ll be graduating soon! So keep an eye out for posts about my favorite homeschooling experiences, things (both academic and nonacademic) I’ve learned during the process, et cetera.

After finishing the A B See Photo Challenge (where Z is the only letter left), I plan to begin another photography challenge. I’ve already selected the prompts, but I want to buy my new camera first because… because.

I want to blog about SCIENCE more often. Actually, I’ve realized that I’m more interested in scientists than in science. I love finding amazing people who inspire me, become my heroes, et cetera, and this allows me to geek out about history as well. (I am Gollum and history is my precious. I could watch historical documentaries all day.)

Back in November, I wrote a post titled Science Musings: Dabbling + I Really Admire Scientists + Women And STEM. I really enjoyed writing it, and realized that this is an interest (albeit a minor one) that I don’t write about very often. I mostly talk about writing and photography and, I don’t know, artsy things.

But I really do like talking about my science heroes – I’d like to post something about Galileo soon, and something else about awesome science dudes of the ancient world. You can definitely expect to see not one but two posts about my fave WWII-era computer peoples within the next ten days or so. (I’m pretty sure some of you can guess the first one, but I’ll be completely surprised if anyone knows the second. Fifty points to the Hogwarts house of your choice if your guess is correct.) I want to write about lady scientists for My Hero Monday.

I want to start writing serious posts more often. But I also want to feel less weird about posting posts that are pure silliness. I want to strike a happy medium, people!

And that is all. I have no idea how to conclude this post, so I’m just going to say, um… goodnight, goodnight, don’t let the zombies bite. (I don’t even know. My brain is fried after doing too much Spanish homework.)
